Mike and I met one another through an online dating site. Our first date took place on June 13th, 2023 at Lake Hefner in OKC with our dogs Molly and Birdie. In typical Mike Allen fashion, he came prepared to win me over with one of Mike’s favorite candies (Dum-Dum’s) and brought my favorite cherry flavored Dum-Dum. Don’t think Mike stopped there because he also brought a tennis ball for Birdie. I learned that night about Mike’s wicked sense of humor when he received multiple scam calls and each time answering answering with a different character voice to see how long they would stay on the phone before proceeding to hang up. I also learned that night how much Mike valued the importance of family and how God was the center of his life. I left that night thinking I had met someone very special.

We proceeded to have another date by Lake Hefner with Cherry Lemon slushees and various snack items. When Mike’s power went out for a few days, I figured it was a great opportunity to show off my cooking skills and brought him over dinner with the remaining sunlight dimming. When it was time to for me to travel to Walloon Lake, MI for an annual family trip, he eagerly volunteered to pick me up at 5:00 a.m. to take me to the airport. By July 18th, we both realized we had found someone special and made it official as boyfriend and girlfriend. I became smitten pretty quickly after he took care of me when I was sick. I knew then that I loved him. Mike later shared his love for me. He stated he knew he loved me when he heard me singing. By August, Mike was making plans for me to attend his annual work cruise and I brought him on a family trip to Carlton Landing. We met each others families and friends and discussed plans for our future together.

The Proposal

Mike took me back to Lake Hefner in mid April 2024. I had finals for my first semester of nurse practitioner school the following week. He wanted to assure me I didn’t go another day not knowing how much he loves me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
